Propane Safety…Do you and your family know what to do if you suspect a gas leak?
1. You should evacuate the area immediately.
2. Do not turn light switches on or off.
3. Do not use the telephone.
4. If you are able…turn off the gas supply at tank.
5. Call your serviceman or supplier to report the leak.
6. Stay out of building or home until a qualified person authorizes your return.

Mandatory Propane Cylinder Requirements
Effective April 1, 2002 the NFPA required that Propane Gas Cylinders in the pound capacity range (i.e.: BBQ grill tanks, camping tanks, etc) should be equipped with an OPD (Overfilling Prevention Device).  Most cylinders with the OPD valve have special “triangular” handwheels and some will have the letters OPD stamped on the valve handle or on the valve bodies. We can identify the type of valve on your cylinder if you are unsure.   You may purchase or exchange tanks from us that meet the new regulations.

* Educational safety pamphlets are sent out to our patrons yearly with a scratch and sniff portion so that you and your family know how to properly identify the odor of LP.  These are also available from your local SCCoop Propane Specialist
